It’s that time of year again: The Cross Country season is about to get into full swing. Vicky has passed on the responsibility of rounding up troops for the ladies x-country shenanigans and Mark will continue for the guys.

As your co-captains, we are hoping to encourage as many of you to get stuck in as possible. It’s a great opportunity to support the club, catch up with friends, share a bit of competition and of course get muddy-it is cross country after all!

So, here are the dates for your diaries:

  • Ladies: 11th October (Richmond Park), 6th December, 10th January and 7th February.
  • Men: 11th October (Coulsdon), 8th November, 10th January, 7th February

There will also be a post race social at The Albert – very conveniently located for the ladies race [Surprised]) www.thealbertkingston.co.uk/

Please encourage as many people from the club to come and join us for some friendly competition. We will send out more information about each individual race shortly but all are taking place relatively locally which should allow for a big Fulon turnout.

If you think that cross country is not for you then we would just like to ease your concerns. There is a little something for everybody. Those who enjoy some rewarded pain and podium finishes, these races are certainly for you-your club needs you! For those who have always enjoyed getting muddy, we cater for you too. But also for those who enjoy eating good cake, each racer will be rewarded with home-baked cakes following the race. But mainly the races are a great social gathering and a lot of fun so please help us to recruit as many people in the club to run, roll, stagger or walk as possible. Hangovers are not an excuse…

On race day, we usually aim to arrive at the venue at least half an hour before the race start time, bearing in mind that finding the start itself from the car park can sometimes involve a bit of a walk!  Allow plenty of time for your journey, particularly when racing at Lloyd Park which is notoriously bad for traffic.

At the venue, find the rest of the Ful-on Tri team and the Captain or their deputy, who will have a sign-in sheet.  You will be given two race numbers (for front and back), and a club vest, loaned for the race.  If you have your own vest, or some other Ful-on Tri kit (e.g. tri top, trisuit, cycling top) please bring it along in case we run out of kit.  Please also bring some safety pins.
