Race Report W/E 24th November

It’s still one week until the official countdown to Christmas, but don’t let that stop you deciding now that you need (I mean really need) to buy your Ful-on Tri Christmas party ticket (14th December)! It’s the best club evening… and you get to congratulate, or be one of, our award winners!! We guarantee that it will make you feel so much better about the fact that mince pies have been on sale since August.

Equally importantly, the club needs you to help with the Mob Match on the morning of the day of the party. The Mob Match is our annual competition against Thames Turbo – it’s a Park Run (Bushy Park) – the objective being to get more runners out from our club. So, please, put the morning of the 14th December in your diaries!

Now, back to racing. We have two weeks to recap (sorry I was away somewhere warmer). However, this weekend has been surprisingly quiet. Only Pierre Elliott Roussell appeared to be competing in a Spartan race.

So, it’s all going to be about last weekend (16th/17th November).

Addidas Fulham 10k

Addidas City Runs have been gaining increasing popularity over the last couple of years – certainly helped by our own Emma Guthrie.

Last weekend saw a repeat of the Fulham 10k, based around Parsons Green. We had a fair few from the club out running (sorry if I missed anyone): Pim Kalisvaart; Euan Lees; Ken Murray; Megan Whewell; Alexie Calvert-Ansari; and, Lana O’Kirwan.

Screaming in together, in a fantastically fast 34:55 were Euan and Alexie – a 15 year PB for Euan too!

Pim and Ken finished a minute apart around 3 minutes later, with Lana and Megan rounding things up – and Megan achieving a 10k PB too!!

Great running everyone.

Brighton 10k

Racing along Brighton Seafront, Kiril Mikhaylov was also taking part in a 10k – finishing  in just over 35 minutes – our 3rd fastest runner of the weekend!

Victoria Park Half Marathon

James Nellany took things a notch longer with a half marathon. Despite “not feeling great” and the run feeling “suspiciously short”, he flew round, came 18th and bagged a fast wave place at the Brighton Marathon – so a fab result!

Craft Half – Wimbledon Common

Taking things in a different direction of difficulty, Gina Siebler went one further and ran a half marathon with beer stops! There probably aren’t many in the club who could complete a half alongside consuming 6 beers. Kudos!

Wendover Woods 50

However, taking the ultimate prize for challenge of the weekend were Luke and Janice Hardman. They were running an off-road 50 mile race (check it out on the Race Calendar – it sounds Brutal).

Congratulations to both for finishing this event. It was a full day out with both finishing either side of 14 hours!!

And that’s your lot for the fornight!

Do please email me at fixtures@fulontri.com with any omissions or upcoming races (I really will get around to adding a full 12 months of races to the race calendar very shortly – in the meantime let me know what you’re doing and I’ll add them!).

Coming up next weekend we have the Dorset Endurance Life Coastal Series races (there will be a crowd doing this one – not just Helen Fagan), and of course Patagonman.

Do, do, also buy your Christmas Party ticket and set a reminder for the Mob Match in the morning!
