Race Results w/c 29th Jan

Written by: Heather Mayer

The early season triathlons continued this weekend, with Sarah Lewis taking on Ironman 70.3 Dubai to come in 2nd overall. In what sounded like a thrilling race, Sarah had been sticking near the lead throughout the swim and bike, but really put the hammer down in the run, coming from 5th place overall off the bike to overtake three of her opponents over the 21km course. Congratulations on a fantastic result Sarah! And we hope you said hi to Ali for us all.

Back on home turf, it was the weekend of 10ks, with Carolina Lanza completing the Regent’s Park 10k, and Enrique Pinel, Merilee Bridger, and Richard Bridger running the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run. Well done all!

Meanwhile, I tried to compete with some of the UK’s top runners at the BUCS Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Needless to say, “compete” was the wrong word, but I enjoyed seeing just how far ahead the real runners got while I tried not to slip in the muddy mess they left behind.

Which, of course, reminds me to remind you that next Saturday is the final cross country race for both the men and the women – this is your last chance until next October to don your spikes, wear your skimpiest shorts and play in the mud without people judging you. You certainly wouldn’t want to miss it.
