Race Results w/e 29 April

While I was off training for the fourth discipline by doing Peroni reps over the weekend (I think I’d be better off in a sprint than an ironman at my current liver fitness level), Ful-on Tri members had a fantastic week of racing.

Starting off with epic bike journeys, Annalisa Sarasini, Dave Bulmer and Pieter Van Wezel were off in Italy taking part in the Giro Sardinia stage race. Annalisa had a fantastic race, competing as a solo rider against some strong teams and cming in 4th in her age group 10th place overall despite a mechanical on one stage that cost her 20 minutes. Dave and Pieter were competing on the same team, and had a stormer of a team time trial, coming in 11th and all on road bikes. Amazing results, well done!

In Mallorca on Saturday, Jane Osborne and Daniel Venn completed the Mallorca 312 on Saturday. That’s 312 kilometers, with over 5,000 meters of climbing in one day. Chapeau!

Triathlon season is fully underway, with a number of races on this weekend. First up was Haukur Heimisson at the Volcano Triathlon. After a what looked like a great week out training at La Santa, Haukur put in a good performance in a strong field. On Sunday, Sandy Reid was down in France racing the Cannes Triathlon, putting in a speedy performance in the same field as the pros. I hope it was it you who gave Lucy Charles a hand changing her tire!

Down in sunny Marbs, Claire Hawkins, Eimear Toomey, Giovanni Simoni, Nicola Anderson, Ruth McIntyre, and Tamsin Ede were all out at Ironman 70.3 Marbella. The wind conditions meant that the swim got cut a little short, according to Eimear, “Bike was up. Then down. Then up. Then down.” I guess it was hilly! Due to injury, Ruth only completed the swim while Eimear completed the swim and the run, but Claire, Giovinni, Nicola and Tamsin all completed what looked like a tough race.

Back in England, Jules May and Will Manns raced at the Ringwood Triathlon. Both had great races, with Will taking 6th overall and Jules taking 7th overall. Well done!

Finally, London League kicked off this weekend at the Kingfisher Aquathlon. Representing Ful-on Tri were Euan Lees, Nick Busca, Rob Argles, Matt Hughes, Martin Bruwer, Sophie Kirk, Amy Ellerker, Ed Challes, Jamie McCanny, Pierre-Elliot Roussel, Faye Sanders, Lorraine Kelsey, Rhys Davies , Guido Hakkenberg , Amir Sadaghdar and Richard Harper. Overall, the women came in 2nd, while we also got 2nd in the mob match, while Euan came in 2nd overall. Well done all!
