Amigos! For those who haven’t yet done so – make sure to renew your membership … and after that, get your tickets for the Christmas bash! It will be on Saturday 9th December.

Tri news go straight to the top and this one is super worthy of the weekly headline. Parys Edwards is obviously enjoying her south east Asian retreat as she scored a 5th place overall. Next stop: Phuket 70.3. Good luck!!!!

As it was a rainy weekend, it can only mean one thing: it was cross country time. First off were the ladies. Soon after the race, captain (Sian) Morgan said: “Well done to all the FoT ladies who came to XC. Some great running and run/walking! The A team scorers were Paula Rutherfoord, Claire Wood, Ruth Purbrook, Christina Jenkins and Katie Wright (who drove up from Cardiff to be with us) and the B team was made up by myself, Anna Henderson, Tamsin Ede, Amy Ellerker and Jane Dwyer.

A big shout out to Sophie Tabor who was our FOT race volunteer, showing up despite not being able to race herself. Thanks also to Emma Williams who came and cheered us all on in the rain! Thanks for the pictures 🙂 Impressive determination from an injured Eimear Toomey and Nicola Anderson who tag teamed to run + walked the course to do us all proud. Sam Playfair seems to be enjoying the XC and completed her second race (you didn’t get a first race shout out, so wanted to mention it here). So lovely also to see a few face that haven’t run for a while!

NEXT RACES: 13th Jan + 10th Feb, in Wimbledon and Richmond!!! YES we have two close to home races… please put it in the diary… last time we were at Richmond we had >50 ladies running. Lets see if we can beat that!”.

Great news for Paula Rutherfoord who will be representing the Surrey team at the South of England Inter Counties Cross Country Champs in Oxford! Woop Woop! Very much deserved.

Later on in the day the men travelled down to Epsom Downs for a pint and a run before hand. Speed machine James Ellis was on top form and after the minute silence, stormed off ahead. He didn’t leave the front much and bashed out an overall 2nd place. BOOYA! The FOT podium was completed by the everpresent Charlie Elliott and Alexie Calvert Ansari. Soon after the race, Captain Benton dropped this inspirational message to all of those who raced: “Good result today; 76 point improvement placed us 5th and now striking distance of 5th place in the league. Thanks to everyone for coming, next race 2nd December, miss it – miss out!”.

Thanks a lot to everyone who turned up (I think that’s everyone): James Ellis, Alex Bump (who forgot how to put a tshirt on), Alexie Calvert, Andrea Sala, Charlie Elliott, Cyril Deleuze, Colin Frew, Dave Bulmer, Francis Kung, Ian Baker, Jason Parish, Jon Montoya, Jon Moseling, Jose Lopez, Keiran Allen, Mark Benton, Mateus Pimenta, Matt Hughes, Paulo Santamaria, Pete Doubleday, Phil Leavy, Pierre Guilpain, Pim Kalisvaart, Richard Bridger, Richard Curling, Rob The Laminator Argles, Rob Gray (who had an adult sized top on for once), Gareth Read, Will Manns and Xavier Faux Pas (this is now in the Surrey League database … Thanks Mark!).

Next outing for the men will be on Saturday 2nd December.

All details for women and men can be found on the Surrey League website

Meanwhile a few FOTers were out doing the Poppy half marathon. Well done to Charlotte Clements (who grabbed a new PB), Michelle Ogilvie and Mark Westwood.
