Race Results w/e 18th March

Written by Heather Mayer

Despite the beautiful, sunny, Spring-like days we had last week, this weekend saw winter rear its head once more, blanketing the land in a layer of fluffy white stuff. Unfortunately, this meant that a fair few races were cancelled or postponed, disappointing many of us who were looking forward to some competition this weekend. However, a handful of races were still held, and a few lucky and hardy souls completed some pretty epic runs this weekend.

On Saturday, a number of FoTers headed down to the coast to run in the CTS Sussex. Eimear Toomey took on the 10k distance (which was actually 12.4k) and seemed to enjoy storming down the hills. Jonathan Furuya and Sophie Tabor took on the half marathon distance, while Guido H and Nick Van Praag stormed through the ultra distance race. Guido summed up his thoughts on the race afterward: “Yeah I loved it, when you’re running 55k up and down the cliffs with snow blasting your face the trick is to take it not too seriously.”

On Sunday morning, Amy Ellerker travelled over to Hampton Court to run the Hampton Court Palace Half, coming in 9th woman and posting an impressive new PB despite the snow and mud.

Meanwhile, over in the Netherlands, Ben te Beek raced the Stevensloop Half Marathon.

Well done to all for strong racing this weekend and making the best of some less than ideal conditions.
