As the sun sets gradually towards the Hawaiian horizon our last weekend of the 2018-19 season shook forth a few worthy results – namely two triathlons and two long running races.
Stretching his autumn legs, Nick Crandon took part in Bournemouth’s south coast marathon this weekend, finishing in a great 4hr 14min!
Havering Half Marathon
Out to the East of London in Harrow Lodge Park, Sam Roberts was racing the inaugural Havering Half Marathon.
Finishing sub 1:30 in a great time of 1hr 27min, Sam came 23rd overall and 10th in his age group!!
In the penultimate Ironman result before the big Kona event next weekend, Barcelona hosted a full Ironman race. Carolina Lanza was our sole club competitor.
Having had to step out of finishing Roth due to a stress fracture, Carolina certainly bounced back for this race. She followed a strong and steady swim with a swift bike leg, before steadily ticking off the marathon to finish in a fantastic 11hr 24min! A great result and lesson in recovery from injury!!
Warwickshire Sprint Triathlon
Up in Shakespeare country, Stratford-upon-Avon was playing host to the Warwickshire triathlon. A 400m pool swim, followed by an 18km cycle and a 5k run.
In her first ever triathlon, Stephanie Langton had an absolute blast, finishing in 1hr 34min! Even more it’s great to hear first hand what it means to be a member of Ful-on Tri: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of the coaches for their time, expertise, and encouragement, and to the committee for a really warm welcome to the club.”
And that’s your lot from the nearly final weekend of the season. Stay tuned for news from Kona and the first weekend of Cross Country (please sign up whatever your speeds!!), and a wrap up of the season (in the coming weeks – though obviously without any clear spoilers when it comes to awards).
