Race Results w/e 15 April

Written by Heather Mayer

Apparently the sun was out this weekend, although unfortunately I missed it by traveling across the pond to Boston where I got to watch some people throw tea over the side of a boat and to go to a marathon expo without having to run a marathon. Fortunately, the good weather has stayed here, so I’m writing this outside in the morning sun (#studentlife). More importantly, though, the beautiful weather coincided with the first of the Spring triathlons.

First up, Jon Moseling ventured down to South Africa to take on the Ironman African Championships. Well done Jon for a solid race, and for kicking off our Ironman season!

Ben, Nick, Jon, and Ruth racking their bikes at Challenge Roma

Back in Europe, Sarah Lewis, Ruth Purbrook, Nick DeBouillane, Jon Saunders and Ben Clothier all took on Challenge Roma on Sunday. Sarah had a stormer, winning the race overall. Congratulations Sarah!

Sarah had a fantastic race, taking first place

Due to injury, Ruth had planned to stop after the bike leg, but she smashed the swim and the bike. Nick, Jon, Ben and Nick’s Tache all had strong races as well, with Ben obligingly becoming the Challenge Roma poster boy (see photo). Well done to all, and hope you had plenty of celebratory gelato and pizza.

In single sport races, Claire Wood, Thomas Claracq and Peter Atkinson ran the Putney & Fulham Half Marathon. Congratulations to Claire for coming in first lady, and to Peter for setting a massive PB!

Finally, Matt Hughes ran the Calderdale Hike in the Pennines this weekend, completing his first ultra marathon. Matt assures me that 40 miles and 7000 feet of climbing were well worth it for the flapjacks. They better have been really good flapjacks…

Good luck to everyone running the London Marathon this weekend. Looking forward to cheering very loudly and joining you for a drink afterward!!
