Race results w/e 3 June

At a race briefing this weekend, the organiser wrapped up his spiel with the inspiring words, “Don’t be sh…abby.” I think it suffices to say that Ful-on Tri never races shabbily, and this week’s results are yet more proof of that.

On Saturday, Mark Nielsen, Shaun Wood and Emilie Quinn all raced at the Blenheim Palace Triathlon. Mark reported that he had a strong swim, but faced a dropped chain during the bike and cramp during the run. Nevertheless he had a good day out in the sun. Shaun, our weekend warrior of last year, decided that one race was enough this year, and showed his speed coming 4th overall. And Emilie completed her first triathlon.

On Sunday, Sarah Lewis and Ruth Purbrook competed in the Challenge Championships in Samorin. Sarah came in 9th overall, while Ruth racing her way to 2nd age-grouper overall and first in her age group. Congratulations Sarah and Ruth!

Rob Argles and Kerstin Mogull both raced at the Thorpe Park Sprint Triathlon, the Triathlon England National Championship race. Well done both.

Up north in Chester, Haukur Heimisson, Jason Parrish, and Martin Bruwer took on the Deva Standard Triathlon, while Nicola Busca and I raced the Deva Middle triathlon. Haukur had a fantastic race, taking 6th place overall and 1st in his age group, while in the middle distance I came in 2nd woman and 1st in my age group.

On the single sport front, congratulations to Cheryl Boshi for completing the entire cycle route from London to Istanbul. She’s done this over the course of a few trips, all the while making the rest of us jealous!

Finally, nearly all of the club who were still in London this weekend seem to get on their bikes on Sunday to ride the Ditchling Devil Audax. Well done everyone.

Next weekend is a big week of racing, so good luck to everyone!
