Race Report w/e 23 May 2021
Great to see so many members out racing this weekend! A bevy of events were in the calendar this past weekend, including numerous runs, triathlons and even a gravel race. FoT didn’t take part in all, but please do use the calendar to let me know which events you are taking part in.
Dorney Triathlon
A fun, flat and fast course around the Olympic venue with sprint, standard and aquabike events on offer, this event sounds ideal for a PB. 4 members were entered in the standard distance event and 3 amazing results with Kostas having a bad luck day and getting a mechanical on the bike, hopefully a good swim training session for future events!
Faye Sanders came 1st in her category and 5th Female overall.
Nick De Bouillane came 3rd in his category and 4th Male overall.
Rob Argles came 3rd in his category.
Well done, impressive performances all round. Full Results here.
The Huntsman Tri
A smooth lake swim , followed by a bike through the New Forest and ending in a flat run through quiet country roads. Offering various distances we had 4 out racing the standard distance: Catherine Spurin, Jess Coenen, Alex Richard and James Higson. Great Racing all, but a shout out to the women coming in close succession as 4th, 5th and 6th in their categories.
Jayne Edwards also racing, but in the middle distance. A brilliant effort by Jayne, 1st place in her category and 5th female overall.
Full Results can be found here.
The Marlow Classic
Usually a Triathlon. This year looked a little bit different with sprint, Olympic and middle distance duathlon events.
Laurent Gibb raced the middle distance: 20km run, 85.6km bike finished off by a 5km run putting in a great performance.
p.s. Thank you for using the race calendar :).
Sophie Kirk raced the first 2 legs in the standard distance: Run 10km, Bike 37km, Run 5km, finishing off with a lie down (source: Facebook).
Results here.
Ironman Tulsa
Our resident Pro and FoT Vice Chair, Ruth Astle, had a fantastic race with a 7th place and a Marathon PB of 3.03. Outstanding performance, looking forward to following the next one.
If you raced and you’re missing from the above you can still email me at fixtures@fulontri.com, and, more importantly, you can even do this before future weekends. When possible, please make sure you’re racing under the club.
Finally, I would love some feedback from members on the race calendar. If you have any suggestions on why this isn’t being used, what could be done to make it more useful or even a suggestion on a better way to capture who is racing and when, they will be welcomed. Race results are used for the year end awards, and everyone’s efforts should be recognised!
