Race Report W/E 8th December
So, apologies for the repeat link in the Newsletter – no, you’re not trapped in Groundhog day… unless you’re on your turbo – in which case… maybe.
The weekend gone did actually feature a few new races and exploits. Ms Wright was back in action on a “short” run in the Southern Hemisphere. Rob Argles raced a mud-fest. And we had one other run to complete a full set of trail competitions.
Thanks to those of you that emailed me with races to add to the Race Calendar. They’ll be up by the end of the week. And, watch this space for a simple user guide – I’ll also be adding names this time around too!
Grim 8
Rob Argles was out chasing down some fresh mud on Sunday in the Grim 8. It’s an 8 mile cross country course that takes place on an Army Tank course near Aldershot – having done something similar near Camberley, picture nice woodland dirt roads that suddenly descend into knee to waist high water and sludge!
True to form, Rob blazed around, coming 2nd in his age group and 26th overall, in a time of 1hr 4min!
It looked… fun?

The Hogs Back
This is an annual 11.4km road race on the Losely Estate near Guildford – featuring the climb over the Hogs Back. On Sunday, Lawrence Burton was out running, finishing in a great time of 47min!
Kepler Challenge
Down in the small New Zealand town of Te Anau, Katie Wright was back at it, racing over some seriously bumpy terrain. The Kepler Challenge is a 60km mountain run – featuring some scenic but hilly Fjordlands.
Katie completed the race in a fantastic time of 6hr 50min – 18th female and 15th in her race category!! Great running!
And that is your lot before this Saturday’s Christmas party!
Do keep the emails and messages of results and upcoming races coming – and it’s great to get suggestions of events to add to the Race Calendar (it helps others in their season’s race decisions too!). Usual email address: fixtures@fulontri.com
Hopefully see most of you on Saturday evening!
