Oh it’s good to be back. Here, for this week only, whilst your usual performance commentator is enjoying a few beers in Austria.

The busiest event of the weekend was obviously IM Austria. An incredible performance by all of you. I am so happy all of your hard work has paid off. It was a genuine display of mental and physical strength. Everyone who started, finished! Big thumbs up to: Alex Little, Carolina Lanza, Christian Bergara, Heather Mayer, Jaclyn Curley, James Ellis, Janice Hardman, Jon Green, Julia May, Justin Cunnew, Katrina Head, Lucinda Springett, Luke The Well Named Hardman, Nicola Anderson, Richard Curling, Tamsin Ede, Tom Scott and Vince Rowe.

First home for the club was James Ellis smashing a 9h05 IM and taking the club IM record, established in 2011 by Aaron Burby at IM Austria funnily enough. James produced a stunning sub-5 ride followed by a 2h52 marathon! He took 2nd in the M25-29AG. Also doing her first IM and also grabbing an AG group podium (3rd in F25-29) is Heather Mayer. In total there were 5 AG top-10s (James + Heather + Jon Green + Katrina Head + Richard Curling) and 4 sub-10 races (James + Jon + Richard + Luke, who smashed his PB). Congratulations too to James, Jon and Rich who will also be booking ‘plane tickets to the 50th State of the USA very soon.

A big shout out goes to all of the supporters as well. From sorting out bikes to appreciating people’s anatomy, you really boosted our FOT racers. London based supporters nearly broke FB with nearly 350 comments relating to the race. No words can do justice to these people’s performances so make sure to catch up with them at training or in the pub to hear their tales. Well done all.

Whilst Austria was going on, FOT was well represented in other long distance events. Big shout out to Lindsay Aqui for completing IM Norway (finishing 8th in the F25-29 AG). Maybe a bit colder than Austria and a challenging bike course, according to the pros. Also a huge High 5 to Michel Radermecker for completing the iconic Challenge Roth. Bien joué l’ami.

In Finland, Giovanni Simoni and David Sharpe tamed IM70.3 Finland. Sounds like the weather was pretty horrendous according to the Strava uploads. Closer to home, Andrew and Charlene Feeney-Seale completed Edinburgh 70.3 in much sunnier conditions, and Shaun Wood took on the Holkham Half. Well done to Richard Thompson who was one of 33 Richards to finish the JLL Property sprint tri at Eton Dorney, and Sandy Reid who came 4th in AG at the Redhill Sprint Triathlon.

Looking at single sport events, well done Ceri Ruzzi, Hannah Graff, Nell Kenny and Ursula Hankinson for completing the 5km sea swim in Swanage. Well done to Nell who came home with a lovely plastic cup celebrating her 2nd place! Of course, the iconic Maratona dles Dolomites was this weekend. Well done to Phil Lloyd, Walt Rothon, Lucy Orhnial, Mark Parrett, Tamsin Booth and James Ogilvy (and great support, Lucy I). Meanwhile Phil Leavy cycled to France to take part in the Wiggle French Revolution. Sacre bleu!

To paraphrase a BBC commentator “what is the difference between Lionel Messi and FOT? FOT actually delivers on the world stage”.

Keep it happy x
