Race Results w/e 22 April

In typical English fashion, the fact that the sun was shining all week last week was met with over-enthusiastic early morning trips to Richmond Park, people baring all their skin and competing for Best Lobster, and finally complaints that it was just too hot really.
The sudden change from deep winter to mid-summer coincided with the London Marathon, for which it really was just too hot. We had a large contingent of Ful-on Tri runners this year in what was the hottest London Marathon on record. A huge well done to Andrew Feeney-Seale, Anna Lavelle, Carolina Lanza, Emma Swinnerton, Enrique Pinel, James Ellis, James Deane, Jo Gale-Batten, Katie Holmes, Lea Burek, Luke Hardman, Sally Benton, Stephanie Wise, Tamsin Ede, Tom Scott, and Ursula Hankinson. Spending the winter training in snow and ice only to be faced with unseasonably hot weather on race day clearly is not ideal. All of you showed tenacity and grit, especially when it became clear that every race plan got sent to go rot in the Tower. You’re all superstars.
I also want to give a shout out to all the marshals who gave up their Sundays. Thanks to Colin Frew for organising the group, and to all the volunteers: Pierre-Elliot Rousseau, Issy Dunlop, Guido Hakkenburg, Sarah Lahaussedelavoire, Lorraine Kelsey, Gareth Read, Lucinda Springett, Amir Sadagdar, Lucy Ornihal, James Ogilvy, Nicola Anderson, Ruth McIntyre, Jane Osborne, and Jackie Curley.
Although it’s hard to believe, there were some other events happening this weekend too. Brian Canty went off to Belgium to complete the Liege-Bastogne-Liege sportive on Saturday, a 154km route the day before the pros. Meanwhile in Spain, Rob Gray ran the Madrid Rock n Roll Half Marathon on Sunday, achieving what looked like a perfectly paced run. And down in Dorset, Katie Hill completed the Jurassic Coast Half Marathon trail run. Finally, well done to Lucinda Springett for completing the 1485 Audax last weekend.
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! It’s a busy one as London League kicks off with the Kingfisher Aquathlon, and we’ve got members racing in Marbs (just make sure you wait until after the race to start partying), the Ringwood Triathlon, and the Mallorca 312.
