Race Results w/e 6th May (plus the bank holiday!)

Despite a hefty chunk of the club flying off to Mallorca in search of pothole-less roads, considerate drivers and beautiful seas, it was an eventful first weekend of the month back home, bringing sunshine and heat to London, and with that some triathlon competition!

Kicking it off last week, I did a criterium bike race on Wednesday, going in circles around Lee Valley Velopark, trying to break off the front a couple of times with a friend but realising that I only have endurance legs, and then putting in a last minute sprint to come 4th.

On Sunday, Chris Brown had a good race at the New Forest Standard Distance Triathlon, putting in a particularly strong bike leg. Well done Chris!

“This.” Ruth demonstrates the perfect aero tuck on the way to a blistering TT time

Ruth Purbrook gave a very swift TT performance over the weekend, coming in as the first woman by over a minute on an 18.5 mile TT course.

Finally, it was the second round of the London League at the Thames Turbo Triathlon on Monday. Very well done to Captain Rob Argles, Martin Bruwer, Jonty Bloomfield, Matt Hughes, Amy Ellerker, Jane Osborne, Guido Hakkenburg (who chose to spend his birthday morning racing in FoT colours!) and Rhys Davies.  Amy came 4th in her age group and Jane 3rd in hers, while Captain Rob also came in 3rd in his age group. Next up on the London League calendar is the Crystal Palace Triathlon next weekend, where we have a full roster of contenders raring to take on “the best bike course in a triathlon” (Rich Harper, 2018). Good luck everyone!
