I feel I have to start with an apology. Indeed, I didn’t write a blog post last week and I want to apologise to my many fans for letting you down 🙂
Last weekend was the much anticipated FOT vs Thames Turbo at the Bushy Park ParkRun. It was a beautifully crispy and wintery day. Many FOTers attended, even a couple of our four legged friends. First home for the club was speed machine James Ellis, finishing 3rd overall. Final results to be confirmed soon either by myself or Captain Benton.
In other running news, Paula Rutherfoord joined the Surrey Cross Country team to win the Southern Inter County Cross County champs. Boom! Great work. Looking forward to seeing you 2018 exploits.
Power couple Joanna Gale-Batten and Justin Cunnew were in action at the Hoggs Back running race. High 5s.
Now this weekend … totally different ball game. It was the Beer Mile. You would’ve all heard about it: 4*400m of running and have a can of beer at the start of each. The event was well attended by Clapham Chasers but not so much by FOT. Some people said they had sore throats, some said they had a poor hamstring, some even came off their bike to avoid coming (hope you are ok Shaun). But heyho, they say “quality over quantity” and badiboom boom, Heather Mayer appeared.
Yeppio, Heather won the women’s event. Not only had she partied till 2am, she ran to Battersea Park and then did the beer mile! Impressive.
Well done also to Ben Clothier for completing the event in style (strong running!). He said that was one of the toughest thing he’d done. Personally, I DNFed. Downed two cans, only for some to come back up so I pulled out.
Not sure I’ll be writing next weekend so I wish y’all a Joyeux Noel. Don’t OD on the sprouts x
